Million Paws Walk
Every year, the RSPCA here in Australia has a fund (fun?) raising event known as the Million Paws Walk. The largest participation happens at the Centenial Park in Sydney, however 59 other branch ones are organised in other parts of Australia. This year it happened on the 21st of May in all other parts of Australia except Western Australia where it was on the 30th of May (They always have to do things differently don't they!!)
Basically you make a donation and/or buy paraphenalia, bring your poochie and go for a 2 km walk to meet other animal lovers and their pets. We were fortunate enough that one is organised right here in Bathurst. Hence, here are some pictures to share the event as well as a bit of the local scenery.
According to the paper, there were about 200 dogs (thats 400 paws!) that turned up to this event. We proudly contributed 8 paws, 4 feet and some $$. There were dogs and humans of all shapes and sizes.

and Big ones !
This is Richard with Raven. She is often scared of big dogs but she did really well that day.
View from the bridge of the river and the fast trotters. Everyone went at their own pace so we were spread out over the 2 kms :)
This is the start and finish point. There was a sausage sizzle and a raffle going on as well. Some dogs just loved the river so much they ran in it and played. It was a good day and we got to meet some people and pet lots of dogs. We are definitely going to next year's Million Paws Walk

Hi Rachel - We have similar thing here in San Diego, though we missed it this year, we usually take Sammy and Frankie.....though Frankie gets tired and wants to lie down and rest after a while......
Aww poor Frankie. Maybe you can design a special backpack or perabulator to transport him around :)
welcome back, thought we lost ya!
i'm glad you enjoyed your break, sounds like it was very worthwhile (so i forgive you for your posting lapse!)
you must spill the beans about your new gigs! any good cases lately? how's life in the "big city"? and isn't it amazing how patients change with location and demographics? more on that one later...

Hiii Doc Mommy. Yeah the surgeries are both so different to the one I used to work at! Can't wait to compare notes with you too.
Milly you would have loved being there! Soooo many cute doggies to pat!
Hey Clare!! Err thanks I'll go and have a peek
Wouldn't 200 dogs make 800 paws? That's assuming that each dog actually has four legs... I have seen the odd 3 legged dog... :)
I saw an Emma-dog in one of your photos! Gosh I miss her!
Thanks for your encouragement on my blog by the way - definitely appreciate your prayers!!
LOL Katie, good spotting! I can't multiply! I thought I typed 800 but I guess my subconscious is worse at math than I am. Is Emma dog in Cowra? Yes will keep praying for you :D not many more weeks to go now!
